This is a picture of the house where I live. My appartment is the the one in the lower right part of the picture with the two cars parked in front of it.
The man standing on the left is the cartaker of the house.

I have arrived in Maputo after 19 hours on the plane. I couldn’t sleep at all on the plane so I’m a bit tired now. Johanna and Jimmy drove me to the airport in Stockholm and kept me company for a while. On the plane to Amsterdam I met a friend from the student union at KTH. The flight to Nairobi was a pain since I hardly could sleep at all, but I did manage to catch some sleep on the last flight from Nairobi to Maputo.
Immigrations went smooth, but when I went to pick up my luggage I waited and waited but it never came. I had to file a claim for the luggage, and most likely it got taken off the plane when we stopped in Harare. The next flight from Harare to Maputo with Kenyan Airways is Thursday, and given that today is Sunday this can become a tedious waiting. I hade some
clothes in my carry on luggage so I can handle a few days at least.
Once I got out of customs I found Tonela who were there to meet me and he took me to my apartment.
The apartment I have here is really great. It is larger than my Swedish apartment and is very clean. I seem to have most necessary facilities, including a washing machine in the apartment, so I don’t think my accommodation will be any major concern.
Tomorrow I will meet with the Minister of Science and Technology and some of the staff from the ministry to discuss my work here in Mozambique.
I will be going to Mozambique to work for the Ministry for Science and Technology with the development of an ICT infrastructure for Mozambique. This assignment is financed by SPIDER Center.
During the first assignment I will work with developing a user database and an email system for
Universidade Eduardo Mondlane which we hope will serve as an example implementation for other organisations within Mozambique.
The second part of my assignment will be to investigate future projects for SPIDER to finance and come with a proposal for such projects.
This is an attempt to set up a blog. I’m not quite sure what I’ll do with it, but we’ll see.
